Measures
Indonesia needs to do more to improve energy efficiency
- The energy intensity improvements at the end-use level is modelled as constant from 2018 - 2030.
- The primary energy intensity a proxy for the measurement of energy efficiency improvement is estimated to be 2.93 MJ/USD in 2030, and achieves the SDG rate of 2.96 MJ/USD in the medium ad high growth scenarios.
- However, in the low-growth scenario Indonesia will fall short of achieving SDG 7.3 target achieving 3.01 MJ/USD, wth an annual improvement rate of 1.39%.
- In the component analysis of primary energy intensity trends, the improvement is mainly due to a higher GDP growth rate of 6.8% compared to total primary energy supply growth rate of 5.1%.
